What can you search in Adspy?
Adspy's creative search reads six scopes. Everything covers brand names, ad copy, hooks, keywords, transcripts and the written description of each ad's visuals; the five other scopes narrow the search to one of those fields. The table runs one real query per scope on a sample of 80 ads from the shared library.
| Scope | What it reads | Example | Ads matching | First match |
|---|---|---|---|---|

How does Adspy match your words?
Adspy's creative search finds your words exactly as you type them, in any letter case, anywhere in the chosen fields. A query of several words matches only where those words appear together, in that order. A query can be up to 160 characters long.
Search is literal, not semantic. A search for "coffee" does not return an ad that only says "espresso". To group ads by meaning, such as every ad that opens with a question, use AI tags: they label each analysed ad in 23 categories.
Brand lookup works differently. Ask your assistant for a brand and it finds it in the library by name with search_brands, or looks the advertiser up in Meta Ad Library and Google Ads Transparency with search_advertisers when the library does not have it yet. Both are free.
The language filter covers English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. The words themselves can be in any language: the search matches the text as the ad wrote it.
Which filters narrow a search?
Adspy applies every filter before sorting and paging, so the results are the whole match, never a trimmed sample. The funnel below runs four filters on 80 sample ads: 41 are videos, 38 of those were recorded for 30 days or more, 10 of those are tagged UGC and 7 of those are set at home.

How are search results sorted?
Adspy sorts results in three orders, each based on dates the library recorded. None of them ranks ads by performance: Adspy has no spend, click or conversion data for other brands' ads, so a long-running ad is one that was observed for a long time, nothing more.
- Newest (default)
- Creatives with the most recent first-seen date come first.
- Longest running
- Creatives with the most recorded days come first; ties go to the newer creative.
- Oldest
- Creatives with the oldest first-seen date come first.
What does each plan include for search?
Adspy's plans search the same library from your AI assistant, with every scope, filter and tag. Starter covers one source: Meta, Google or TikTok (TikTok has posts, not ads); Pro and above cover every source. Searching is included on every plan, with fair use; credits pay for results such as a Brand Full Analysis: 2,000 credits a month on Starter and 6,000 on Pro; Unlimited has no credit count (fair use).

How to search ads in Adspy
Adspy's creative search runs in your AI assistant, Claude, Claude Code, Codex or any remote MCP client, through the Adspy MCP server. The assistant calls search_creatives with the scopes, filters, AI tags and sort orders described on this page, included in your plan, and saves what you keep to a collection for free.
In your AI assistant
- Connect Adspy to your AI assistant once: Claude, Claude Code, Codex or any remote MCP client. The setup guide has the steps for each.
- Ask in plain words, for example "find Meta video ads that mention free shipping". The assistant calls search_creatives with the matching scope, filters and tags.

What Adspy search does not do
No spend, ROAS or conversions
Adspy shows public ads and what the library recorded about them. It has no spend, click, conversion or ROAS data for other brands' ads, and no sort order implies performance.
Meta and Google only
The library covers Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and Google (Ads Transparency Center, including YouTube). TikTok, LinkedIn and other networks are not covered.
Exact words, not meaning
Search matches the words you type. Ads that express the same idea in other words need another query, or an AI tag that labels the idea.
No date-range filter
Search has no from-to date filter. Sort by first-seen date or set a minimum number of recorded days instead; Brand X-Ray reads 30, 90 and 180-day ranges.
Questions about Adspy search
Can I search inside video transcripts?
Yes. The Transcript scope searches the transcripts stored with analysed video ads. In the sample of 80 ads on this page, "morning" appears in 3 transcripts.
Can I save or share a search?
Ask your assistant to save the ads it found to a collection your workspace shares, with a note on each, or to export them as JSON, CSV, Markdown, HTML, PDF or a ZIP of media. Adspy keeps no saved searches and sends no alerts.
How many results does a search show?
A search returns 20 creatives by default and up to 100 at a time, on every plan, and the assistant pages through the rest. Every filter applies before sorting and paging, so later pages continue the same match.
Does Adspy show how many ads match?
Adspy gives the total when it is known and leaves it blank rather than showing zero when it is not. Each page of results also says whether more ads match, so the assistant knows when to ask for the next one.
What if the brand I search for is missing?
Ask your assistant to look the advertiser up in Meta Ad Library or Google Ads Transparency, for free, then to add it with brand fetch for 400 credits. Its ads join the shared library as they are collected.
Sources and method
Examples come from a snapshot of the shared library taken on 23 September 2026: a sample of 80 Meta ads from 37 brands. Counts apply the library's own matching rules (case-insensitive, exact phrase, in the fields of the chosen scope) and its filters.
Library figures are the shared library's estimated record counts, read on 26 October 2026 and rounded down. They count records, not unique ads.
